Obverse: In the center, the National Coat of Arms in sculptural relief, with the legend "UNITED MEXICAN STATES" forming the upper semicircle.
Reverse: At the center of the field and as the main motif, an equilateral triangle, an internationally accepted element as a symbol of prevention and protection; inside the legend "50 years", and behind it, two crossed anchors. The elements of land, air and sea are represented on the triangle, through which the Mexican Navy carries out its support functions for the civilian population.
Composition:
1. Central part: Silver nickel silver alloy.
Content: 65% (sixty-five percent) copper; 10% (ten percent) nickel, and 25% (twenty-five percent) zinc.
Weight: 5.51 grams.
2. Perimeter ring: Bronze-aluminum alloy.
Content: 92% (ninety-two percent) copper; 6% (six percent) aluminum, and 2% (two percent) nickel.
Weight: 7.16 grams.
